CHAPITRE III - Intrigues of the women of the harem.
The women of the harem are austerely kept ( guarded ? ) and can see no man (App. 1 and 2). Almost all burn with desires that they satisfy between them, by processes indicated on the subject of the auparishtaka, and by means of which the woman can replace the man [ 46 ].

If this place is kept ( guarded ? ) by sentinels, he ( it ? ) will disguise by taking the suit of a following one of the wished woman, who comes or passes by this place.
When the woman will look at him ( it ? ), he ( it ? ) will make him ( her ? ) his ( its ? ) feelings known by gestures and signs, will show him ( her ? ) drawings with a double meaning, festoons of flowers and rings.
He will observe with a lot of attention the signs which she ( it ? ) makes, her ( its ? ) gestures or her ( its ? ) words; and then he ( it ? ) will try to penetrate into the palace.
If he ( it ? ) is certain that she ( it ? ) comes in some particular place, he ( it ? ) will hide from it, and, at the fixed moment, he ( it ? ) will enter the harem with her, as if it was one of the guards.
He can also enter and go out in a folded bed, or in a coverage of bed, either go ( surrender ? ) _invisible_: for it he just has to rub himself eyes with an obtained eye drops by mixing ( involving ? ) with an equal quantity of water ashes resulting from the combustion, without smoke, from the mongoose, the eyes of a snake and from some fruit of the long gourd tumbi!!!
Duyana, brahmanes and yoguis, still give the other means to make invisible.
The man can also, to enter to the harem, seize the occasion of the holiday of the eighth moon, during which the cleaners of the palace are quite very busy and in confusion.
We introduce young people to the harem, or one them in fact go out, when we bring to it or one in fact go out of the furniture, or during the holidays ( name-days ? ) where we take drinks and refreshments, when the cleaners are extraordinarily occupied and pressed, or when we move one of the wives, or when we lead ( drive ? ) them to public gardens or to holidays ( name-days ? ), either during their return to the palace, or finally when king left for a distant pélerinage.
The women of the harem know mutually their secrets, and as they have quite the same purpose, they help.
A young man who is the lover of all can continue this business very for a long time without being discovered.
To Aparatakas, the wives of king are not well guarded, and the women who have access in the harem introduce with them many young people there.
The royal wives of the country of Ahira are engaged ( surrender ? ) in kshatriyas put in sentinel in the harem.
Those of the country of Vatsagoulmas make, to the harem, by means of messengers, men ( people ? ) come who can please them.
To Vaïdharbas, the sons ( threads ? ) of the royal wives have their entrance ( entry ? ) to the harem and are the lovers of all the wives, excepted ( except ? ) from their mother.
In Stri radjyas, the women of king have for lovers the men ( people ? ) of his ( her;its ? ) caste and his ( her ? ) family.
In the country of Ganda, they give themselves to brahmanes, to their friends, to their servants and slaves.
In Sandhava, to their domestics, kitchen boys, etc.
To Haïmavat, fearless men ( people ? ) corrupt the sentinels and enter the harem.
To Vanyas and Kalmyas, brahmanes, in the known of king, enters the harem with bouquets for the wives, converses with them behind a curtain, and sweet comment cross ( spend ? ) in sweet exercises.
Finally, the women of king of Prashyas hide in the harem a young man for every group of women.
