CHAPITRE II - Apadravyas.

The man can also, to satisfy a woman, use ( wear out ? ) apadravyas or objects which, put on the linga or all around, increase the length by it or the thickness, in a way that he corresponds to the dimensions of the yoni [ 30 ].

[ Note 30: apadravyas having for object the satisfaction of the woman, their invention, although bizarre for us, leaves however a good feeling; and, under this report, the Indians are better than Chinese who distort his women to tighten lips by the inflation of thighs.

In the point of view of P. Gury, apadravyas could be allowed, when they does not form obstacle to the generation.

We saw higher Chariclès, in Lucien, considering them as monstrous because generally their employment ( use ? ) has for object or consequence the infertility. This employment ( use ? ) was common in Rome where doubtless India had imported them.]

Bathravia is of opinion that these objects have to be gold, money ( silver ? ), copper, iron, ivory, horn of buffalo, wood of various sorts, in skin, leather, sweet, fresh ( cool ? ), provoking the erection, and suited well to their purpose.

Vatsyayana, under this report, recovers from it to the taste of each.

Here are the various sorts of Apadravyas.

1 ° The ring of the length of the linga below the head; his ( her;its ? ) outside surface must be rough and furnished with small hemispherical or spherical projections so as to form a file with sweet friction which does not use ( wear out ? ).

2 ° The couple: formed by two rings.

3 ° The bracelet: formed by several rings having together the length of the linga.

4 ° The spiral: she ( it ? ) obtains by rolling up around the linga a wire, as some brass, to which tours are very moved closer.

5 ° Jalaka, metal tube opened to its two extremities; outside, he ( it ? ) is rough and strewed with sweet hemispherical projections in the touch; he ( it ? ) has the dimensions of the yoni; we attach him ( it ? ) to the belt.

6 ° For lack of Jalaka, a tube makes of wood of apple tree or the neck of a gourd ( clot ? ) or a reed weakened with some oil and essences, which becomes attached to the belt with cords; either a crowd of small wooden rings sweet and attached together.

Tubes can be of use, either by surrounding the linga, or only and to its place [ 31 ].

[ Note 31: this apadravyas seems unrefined or dangerous. A manufacturer who would use the science could make it, today, of harmless with the rubber, and seen their good custom ( usage ? ), he could it sell in India a lot. We can connect with this sort of apadravyas which can work without the linga all the machines imagined to replace him ( it ? ) (See appendix N ° 3).]

He ( It ? ) is the custom, in the South of India, to be made a hole in the skin of the linga, as we are made in ears to suspend it buckles; in this hole we hang on ( collide ? ) apadravyas miscellaneous, those mentioned higher and the others of forms suited for the pleasure of the woman.

The linga swells gradually; when he ( it ? ) is rather big, the man goes to bed on a leaky hammock of a hole, through which he lets hang his linga; he ( it ? ) then makes cross ( spend ? ) the pain of the inflation with cold lotions [ 32 ].
